The CCRA installed its first high level repeater at Kregor Peak (1,893 feet) in late 1982. It is located 8 Miles East Southeast of Concord California and provides portable coverage in the North Central and East Contra Costa County area. On a clear day you can see Mt. Lassen 176 miles to the North, all of the Sacramento area and the Sierra Mountains.
During April of 1984 the CCRA received permission to install a second repeater at Bald Peak (1,908 feet) which is about 2 miles West of Orinda, California. This site has a commanding view of the LaMorInda valley east of Orinda as well as Western Contra Costa County and the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
In 1991 the CCRA installed the Highland Peak (2,580 feet) repeater which is about 9 miles East of San Ramon, California. This site provides great portable coverage into the Livermore, Pleasanton, South Diablo Valley and Eastern Contra Costa County. It also looks down towards the Silicon Valley and San Francisco South Bay as well as East towards Stockton, Modesto, the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Mountains.
The repeaters normally are linked together but can be separated for special operational requirements.
