CCRA Website has a remodel!

No, your eyes have not been deceived! The CCRA website has gone through a complete overhaul, thanks to the dedicated efforts of WA6HAM and KG6FQA (and the long patience of KC6ZKS).

Long story short, the previous website content management system (hereto abbreviated as CMS) had become obsolete and was breaking down more often to the point where sometimes the whole site would crash and delete random things. Then, we would have to go to the back-up files and restore the old data. Finally, a couple of days ago, the news links that WA6HAM had been so carefully updating and archiving for five years just randomly disappeared. Just like that.

Did I mention that the back-up mechanism failed so that there was no way to recover them?

As you can imagine, this was completely unacceptable. Hoping to save the entire website from being randomly deleted, we switched the CMS to WordPress. Now, the CCRA has a website which is functional and up-to-date.

So, what does this mean for you?

Hopefully, not too much. Much of the site, layout, and pages should be the same, or at least very similar to what was previously here. The only thing that we don’t have is the long list of news articles that WA6HAM had compiled over five years, however he will be happily adding more news articles as he finds them.

With that said, we do have a couple of new features. Some of the new features that you might encounter?

  • Mobile-friendly layout.
  • Updated membership form, using Smart PDF.
  • CCRA Blog
  • Revamped news section
  • Search function
  • Updated galleries

There is a slight possibility that you may stumble across something that is broken on the website. In that case, please send contact us or send us an email at ccrasysop@gmail.com. Otherwise, we hope you will enjoy the new site!
